Happy Fall with Winter Squash!
Nothing says fall like a variety of winter squash!
Pictured here:
- Honeynut squash
- Mini Pumpkins – My own hybrid from saved Casperita pumpkin seeds that did not turn out anything like their parent (that’s the risk with saving *hybrid seeds, they’re unlikely to turn out like the plant you grew originally, but I really love these yellow orange mini pumpkins even if they’re totally different than the white mini pumpkins of Casperita) *Note – Hybrid is not GMO
- Pineapple Squash offspring – Pineapple squash is not a hybrid BUT cross pollination happened so the seeds produced offspring that turned out more like a white acorn squash lacking the unique characteristic “fingers” of pineapple squash. However, these are beautiful, they look like stars, and tasted just like pineapple squash so I’m happy with my seed saving results.
- And we have a winter squash imposter in this group! This is Kiku melon! It may look like a white pumpkin but it is a melon similar in flavor to cantaloupe.
Happy Fall Y’all!
